Finally, A Bit of a Bump!

There is this awkward stage of pregnancy (for me anyway) where I don't really look pregnant, just like I've put on a few pounds. Where I'm getting too fat to wear my regular clothes, but loose-fitting maternity clothes just look dumb. I feel like I've been at that awkward stage for about two months now... but finally, at 16 weeks, I'm starting to develop a more noticeable "baby bump." See for yourself:

I went to see my doctor again last week, and when she couldn't find the heartbeat, she sent me for an ultrasound, just to make sure all was well. This was not the routine "screening" ultrasound that is usually done at around 20 weeks, so I wasn't expecting to find out what we are having. HOWEVER, one of the first things the tech said was, "Do you want to know the sex of your baby?" So, of course we said, "Yes," and she told us we are having a...

And now it's time to play the "Baby Gender Guessing Game!" Leave your guess as to Baby Dois's gender in the form of a comment below by Friday, October 31st at midnight. I will draw a name from among those who guessed correctly and send the lucky winner a little something special!

  4. I am going to go with the hunch I have had from the beginning...GIRL. I think that it is probably more likely that the tech noticed boy parts right away...but I would love to know if my original hunch was right!

  6. Laura--I LOVE reading your blog. I check it every time I go t Julie's blog, so I read it all the time :-). I love learning about your sweet family through all the pictures and your great writing. I also have wasted countless hours reading all the great blogs you link to (rocks in my dryer, a holy experience, etc.) So I'm sure I feel much more connected to you at the moment than you to me :-). I can't wait to answer your birth questions (a topic close to my heart as well) and I am going to guess a girl. Love ya! Rachel Barnacle

  11. I already know it's a boy!! And no one told me either, but it's kind of hard to know for sure at 16 weeks unless it's a boy - at least that's what I've been told : ) Yeah, another nephew! We need more boys in this family : )

  13. Oh, and I gained 5 pounds in between my weekly doctor visits this last time so oh how I wish I had your problem. I have the opposite. 50 pounds I gained with Hannah and this time it is looking like I am getting close to that again. Oh well, as long as I lose it:)You look adorable.
